Calvin Cunningham
Personality
Calvin is a very sensitive man. Despite looking like a rough, tough guy he is actually very kind and loving to those he cares for. He would go to great lengths to help a stranger (stopping to change a tire on he street, holding doors for people, offering to pump gas for an elderly person, etc.). With the rough, despicable way he was treated by his family upon coming out to them as a teenager, one might think Calvin to be hardened and not quick to open up to people. It was actually the opposite for him. While he did go through a rough patch of being pretty down on himself, he did eventually grow from it and decided that he never would treat anyone the way his parents treated him. In doing so, he has made it a life goal to always be open to others and be kind when he can.

When Calvin loves, he loves hard and with all of his heart and soul. He's loyal to those he considers himself close to and would drop whatever he was doing to be there for anyone he loves. He is very affectionate to his mate and holds him in the highest regard above all else.

Calvin is not without weakness. He has a tendency to take on too much professionally and can get overwhelmed and stressed out. To relieve stress, he often works out past his limits and has in the past injured himself by pushing too hard. Though he grew into a very open and loving person, the scars from his parents' berating him have made him quick to blame himself for things when they don't go right, or get down on himself if he fails at something. His temper isn't often triggered, but when those few things that can make him fly off the handle are poked at, Calvin can slip into bouts of rage and can only be calmed by Noam. Thankfully he always has the support of his mate, without whom he would be in a world of hurt.

When the full moon is approaching, his temper is quicker to snap and sometimes he can seem a little standoffish. It's just a side effect from the werewolf hormones. He also gets pretty sexually needy with his mate.

Wolf Traits
Strength
Calvin is very strong. He has superhuman strength and the muscles to show for it. He can punch through walls, break stone, could rip a tree in half if he wanted to. If concentrating enough effort, he can bend metal. This strength also means he is durable. He can withstand falls, blows from humans, and most weapons. Supernatural attacks, however, can hurt him and he has the scars to show from that.

Senses, speed
Calvin can run faster than the human eye can see if he wants to. He generally would only use that ability in an emergency. His senses are very, very heightened. He can smell illness on others, and can see and hear from great distances.

Telepathy
During full moons when he's in his wolf form, Calvin can speak through telepathy to other wolves and hear them in return.

Partial shifting
During certain situations and circumstances, Calvin has the ability to partially shift. What that means is that his claws can form, his teeth will turn into sharp canine fangs, his eyes will glow, and he becomes far more reliant on instinct rather than human thought to function. This is typically induced by rage, or the feeling he needs to protect his mate. His mate is the only one who can lure him out of such a state once he enters into it.

History
When Calvin Dubrow was born, there was little celebration. His mother had been impregnated by a rogue werewolf, which forced Calvin to carry the gene in him. His mother harbored resentment toward Calvin, even as a tiny baby and often neglected him to the point that concerned neighbors who saw him crawling around in nothing but a dirty cloth diaper called child protective services, who took him from his birth mother and put him into the foster system. Medical examinations done on him before he was placed in foster care told doctors he was a werewolf, so he had to be placed in a home that would be able to handle the extra weight that came with raising a werewolf child. At the age of four, he was placed in the care of Brian and Olivia Cunningham.

The Cunninghams were mostly looking for a way to get money without having to do much with their new son beyond meet the requirements placed on them as foster parents. They drilled into Calvin's head at an early age that no one else would want him, so to always tell the social worker who came to the house to check on them that he was happy in the Cunningham home, or else they'd take him away and lock him in a cage because of what he was. Being a young child, Calvin was impressionable and believed them. That mentality stayed with him for a very long time; long after he was adopted and legally his name changed to Calvin Cunningham.

Calvin didn't have many friends as a child. Mostly he was isolated, because he'd been led to believe that no one would want to be his friend. That all changed, however, when he met a boy his age named Noam who lived in his neighborhood. Calvin was shy at first, but he felt like Noam was someone he could open up to. The two became friends, and soon inseparable. Noam's family often let Calvin come over and stay the night. The Cunninghams didn't care because for them it just meant that Calvin was out of the house and they didn't have to worry about him. Sometimes he would stay with Noam for whole weekends, which was the best. Noam's family took him in as one of their own, fed him, cleaned him up, even bought him clothes when they noticed he was outgrowing what he already had.

The real treasure for Calvin though, was Noam. He trusted him completely, was truly happy when they were together and whenever he had to go home he felt a piece of him was missing. He was sad when they were apart; it physically hurt him to be away from Noam and he didn't understand why, being so young.

One thing that Calvin was dreading as he grew older was his transition into maturity, because that meant he would begin transforming on full moons into a werewolf. He'd been taught early on how shameful it was, so he was scared. The closer he got, the more he took on the traits of a werewolf. He often acted out and grew frustrated because he had so much energy to burn and was always confined at home. Noam would run with him, ride bikes and play which helped, but they couldn't be together all the time, much as he wished they could. Calvin would lash out at his foster parents, or kids at school who he thought deserved it.

Finally, when he knew he was going to undergo his first transformation, Calvin became very withdrawn. Noam had to track him down, find him in the woods in their neighborhood and soothe him. That was when Calvin confided in him what he really was, and how ashamed he was to turn into a wolf. Surprisingly, Noam shocked him by turning into a wolf himself -- he was a shifter, and he promised he'd help Calvin on full moon nights. The two grew even closer from then on.

Unfortunately, the two who had been close since they were small children, were separated when Noam's parents sent him across the ocean to Israel for high school. Calvin wrote to him all the time, but it wasn't the same. He isolated himself again, grew very frustrated and aggressive. Sometimes he felt a physical pain in his chest, a crushing pain in his heart that was so strong there were days when Calvin couldn't even move because he missed Noam so much. He grew so defiant, his foster parents at one point chained him up with silver on full moon nights after poisoning him with wolfsbane to knock him out. They'd sneak it into his food and water without him knowing it. Calvin still has scars on his neck, wrists, and ankles from the shackles they locked him in.

Several nights, Calvin would run away and end up at the Cohen household even with Noam gone. His parents always took him in and let him stay in Noam's room. It was a comfort, but he still felt pain in his heart he couldn't explain. At one point, Calvin struck a deal with his adoptive parents and Noam's parents. He would still report good things to the social workers, the Cunninghams could continue to collect money even though they didn't deserve it, and Calvin would live with Noam's parents full time. Calvin's promise to the Cohens was that he would try to get his act together and pass his classes in school, which for the most part, he did.

He still got into fights, but with better living conditions, well rounded meals, regular exercise and social interaction, Calvin was becoming more of a functioning teenage boy and not just a wild delinquent. The real issue was his hormones. Calvin was a very good looking young man with a bad boy edge, so he attracted a lot of people both male and female. But he never wanted them. He'd make out at parties and fool around a little, but always stopped before things got too serious. It just never felt right. Still, he managed to graduate from high school, and got into college.

Calvin wanted desperately to do right by the Cohens, who had raised him like their own son while the Cunninghams never did. He kept his grades up in college and studied both business and physical therapy. One of the things that had always helped him growing up was physical exertion, so he wanted to own a one day. He needed to know the business side to that, as well as study the body from a biological stand point so he'd know how to best help others. When he wasn't in classes or studying, Calvin was just trying to get by. He still lived at home with the Cohens and found himself so lonely for Noam. He'd go out, try to hook up with a guy or a girl, and nothing happened because they weren't who he wanted. The realization hit him hard one night while he was lying in Noam's bed, wrapped up in his blankets trying desperately to cling to any trace of his scent still left from the years he'd been gone. Noam was his other half. He was his mate, even if they hadn't bonded that way. Calvin knew in his heart it was true. The connection they had all throughout their childhood had attested to it. It explained why he never wanted to get too close to anyone else, why his heart physically ached and he felt so lonely without him.

So when Noam came home to visit, Calvin had to do everything he could to keep his feelings in check. He knew that Noam was into guys, but this was so different. He didn't want to ruin their friendship, and the commitment made when a werewolf mated was for life. Noam could pull away from him but Calvin would always pine for Noam. He knew that was going to be the case for him no matter what, but he didn't want Noam carrying that guilt around knowing he'd broken his best friend's heart for life if he didn't return his feelings. One night while he was home, they'd both been drinking and though it didn't really have an effect on Calvin, it did heighten something between them and they ended up kissing pretty passionately. Calvin knew that even if they never did that again, he'd hold onto that memory for as long as he lived because that might've been his one and only chance to bond romantically with his mate.

When Noam left, Calvin fell apart. It was harder to separate then than ever before. But nothing could've prepared him for the tremendous pain and grief he felt when Noam told him he'd become involved with someone, and they were engaged. When he read that letter, Calvin was devastated. He had to run outside and into the woods so that he didn't rip the whole house apart in his grief. He'd partially shifted by then and had he not run away, he likely would've severely injured if not killed Noam's parents had they tried to stop him. At that next full moon, Calvin sought out other wolves and aggressively attacked them on purpose because he knew they'd overpower him and likely kill him. But they didn't. They attacked him, tore him up and left his wolf form bleeding on the ground. Were it not for his rapid ability to heal he likely would've bled to death, but instead he just passed out and healed through the rest of the night, woke up, and cursed himself for not dying. He was going to have to live the rest of his life without his other half.

It was a terrible time for Calvin that first month after finding out Noam was engaged, but eventually he came around. Noam's mother had been able reach out to him and get Calvin to talk after he came home from the full moon. He told her everything, about how he felt for her son, how broken he was but that he was glad he never told Noam how he felt because it clearly would've put a strain on things since Noam didn't feel the same and he no doubt would've felt guilty for ever having feelings for anyone else knowing what it would do to Calvin. All he wanted was for Noam to be happy, and so he had to let him go. His heart was broken; utterly broken. Once she understood what was going on with him, Noam's mother knew why her pseudo son had been struggling for so many years. She knew why he was aggressive, frustrated and getting into fights. Her heart went out to him, but she also had to be supportive of Noam in his engagement.

When Noam's fiancee suddenly passed away, Calvin wasn't filled with joy, relief, or anything like that. He didn't look at it as an opportunity to move in on Noam romantically at all. He was devastated because he felt like he could feel Noam's grief. Knowing how broken the man he loved felt over such a loss broke Calvin's heart. He just wanted to be there for him however Noam needed him, and that was exactly what he did. Noam came back to Florida and Calvin was by his side. He was a shoulder for him when he needed it, an ear for him to talk to. If he couldn't be with him romantically, then he'd be the best friend he could be to him. He just loved Noam that much.

Fate had a way of bringing them together, though. It wasn't right away, but over time the two of them did find themselves connected intimately. It was like that night when they kissed. A connection that likely had been there all along was brought right into the forefront of things. Feelings were confessed, and the two finally mated. Calvin felt that void in his heart he'd possessed since childhood fill with the love Noam felt for him. It was unlike anything he'd ever felt before and exactly what he'd been missing his whole life. It'd taken a while; Calvin went through a period of time when he almost didn't want Noam to return his feelings because of what it would mean for him, but the bond between them couldn't be denied. They were true mates, and they finally found each other the way they always had been meant to be.

The two moved in together, and Calvin now owns a very successful and profitable gym just as he'd set out to do. He also works as a personal trainer at his establishment. He and Noam got engaged, and will be married in June. They want to start a family right away and expand their pack. Noam shifts on full moon nights to be with Calvin, which means the world to him. All he needed was his mate, and now his life has become balanced. Calvin no longer has the anger issues and aggressiveness he once possessed. Only if Noam is threatened in any way or if he's pushed too far will his temper really flare and he will become enraged. Otherwise he lives a very zen life, calm and peaceful filled with love and happiness he tries to always show to his mate everyday. Leading up to the full moon sometimes he gets a little moody or is quicker to snap about something, but otherwise he is perfectly happy and healthy, and he loves his life.
